Drumroll please.......

Every once in a while there is one of those faces you keep seeing pop up in movies. Or the guys that you keep see on the back of the CD's you buy as a producer. Sometimes these guys are both. I like to call them 'pop-cultural gems', and today, I'm paying tribute to one.

Jason Schwartzman
What a hunk. Right guys?

This guy is cool. Like really really cool. If you're wondering where you've seen him from it's most likely as Ira Wright's (Seth Rogen) cocky C-grade celebrity roommate Mark, from the movie Funny People. If not then it may be from i ♥ huckabees, or even Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

If by some unworldly chance you haven't seen any of those movies, GTFO. Nahh, but if you've seen the show The OC (I was a keen follower back in the day), you'll of probably heard the ol' Phantom Planet version of 'California' (ie. the theme song for the OC). He is their drummer. Cool, eh? Well have you heard of a chap by the name of Ben Lee? Remember that super-dooper cool ARIA grabbin' album 'Awake is the New Sleep'? Yeah? Well he was an uncredited producer/ artist on that album. Pretty really cool, eh?

These days, besides acting in his own HBO series Bored to Death (which is an absolute cracker. Like seriously watch it. He's this private eye, that advertises himself on Craigslist, it's also got Ted Danson and that guy who played Alan from the Hangover.. epic lolz. Ok back to the sentence.. now where was I? Oh yeah), he's also got his own solo rock outfit Coconut Records. Where he writes the songs, plays all the instruments, and it sounds really really good. Coconut Records is great. I highly recommend it.

Ok. That's enough now. Enjoy some good music... and may the Schwartz be with you (yeah, I referenced Spaceballs, you mad?).
