Vent yo' spleen.

I don't know what to write anymore.
This blog used to mean something to me. An outlet for my creative, pop-culture influenced alter-ego.. but it doesn't seem to mean anything to me now.

I think I should just write about things that annoy me. Like, everything bro.

Hate #1 - Idiots.

Everything is coming up Milhouse

Cold hands, warm feet.
Just got back from my trip through China and Malaysia on Sunday. Pretty crazy. I forgot how 100-miles-an-hour everything is over there.. some things you really have to see to believe. Also puts pieces of the bigger picture into perspective, you know, those silly questions we seem to ask ourselves from time to time like: "What do I want out of life?".

Back into the swing of things routine wise now, back at home after a few long days of adjusting. I'm just really happy at the moment, I needed the break for sure.

I haven't watched much TV since I've been back.. just a couple of episodes of Simpsons. Everything really is coming up Milhouse.

Good can be worse than bad sometimes.

Ready.

Counting down the days.
I am in the work of an utter masterpiece. My 80's motivational mix CD is a thing of greatness. Songs from Top Gun, The Karate Kid and the Rocky movies - mixed in with a few other 80's classic. So clichéd it's not funny, but I love it so much. It's my baby.

Decided to flick in my circa 2009 Snob Scrilla album into the stereo last night which reminded me of good times.. you know.. times where I didn't get robbed. The other day some ass stole money from my bank account, what an ass. It's only money though, but it couldn't happen at a worse time since my expedition through Asia is now less than a week away. Pretty super excited still.

Anyway, I could throw you to one of my incredibly corny 80's songs, but instead I'll post some Snob Scrilla... Aussie hip-hop needs more love.

Change is good.

Still about me.

Is it?
I don't like to leave things unfinished, especially things I never started to begin with. Anyway, one exam down.. 4 to go. No work for 9 days which is a plus - more time to study.

Somewhere there's someone.

Homeward bound

I know what I want.
Hmph. These days Suburban Bourbon has become nothing more than me telling you all how tired I am, how much I hate my life and how much I want to just run away. Haha, how depressing!

To get my moods up this evening, I'm taking a break from the regular study and watching a movie of my liking. A Civil Action starring disco dancer come extraterrestrial come pilot John Travolta seems to good to pass up. Apparently good ol' Robert Duvall got a Oscar nom for his performance too. But yeah, a law-based drama - what a mood-lifter! No, but in all seriousness it looks really interesting. It's been far too long since I watched a film with a little backbone.

I think I've blogged this song before.. maybe. Forgive me, but I think it deserves a second round.

I want to want something more than life.

Engage

Still looking, still waiting, still finding.
Loaded with study to do still, only a week till my first exam and I am no where near done. The last 3 days have been a conjunction of study, reading The Economist and watching BBC World News.. oh and the NBA Finals- go Mavs!

Got work in the morning tomorrow which I'm anything but psyched about, I really need a real job. I feel so.. under appreciated? I think that accurately describes it. I could be doing more, something so much more rewarding mentally - but I've been stuck in a dead-end grocery store job instead for the last 4-and-a-bit-years. Finding part-time work for a international business/ Asian studies co-major is pretty difficult. Oh well. I've got the rest of my life to worry about 'real jobs', I guess it's time to just save up, travel and do things my way while everything is simple.

Even crooks have to pay the rent.

4th choice down

We'll always be friends on Facebook.

Trying to find a decent, cheap university overseas to study my Master's at seems an impossible task to accomplish. I think I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but hey - it's something I'd like to have an idea about sooner rather than later. I think I concentrate too much on the future.. without getting the present sorted out before hand. There's a lot that I'd like to get done here before I run off to China for a few years.

Everybody annoys me. It's nice not caring about anything or anyone here, makes my future international career all the easier. No strings attached, baby.

I'll calm down and I'll get along with you, alright.

¿Por qué no me matas?
Life is interesting.
I've got a lot of study to do.
50% of success is showing up.

Imagination and foil

= fun

Hey!
Wondering where I've been? Under no rock, I can assure you. Just not blogging, that's all.
Can't really get to sleep right now, so I might as well be doing something remotely productive - like blogging (productive?).

I bought Manchester Orchestra's new lil' album today, and was happy. Not surprised, really.. but happy. I heard a couple of tracks online before I bought it and I have to say, there probably my favourites of theirs thus far (in 'Virgin' and 'Simple Math'). The rest of it is a bit 'blah' at the moment, but like the rest of their stuff - it will probably grow on me with a few more listens.

Andy Hull: take a bow.

I'm finding I haven't really been listening to the radio at all in the past year or so, and only listening to bands that I already like. Set in my ways? I'm not sure. But I can't really find much new music to get into lately.

Saw a Stanley Kubrick blu-ray collection today for $85. Had all the classics that you'd expect to see there, but I should probably be saving up. The holidays are just round the corner though...

My birthday's coming up ;)

Fighting for rights

.. to party.
I've always been a bit of a closet Beastie Boys fan to say the least. The other day I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a short film made by the hip-hoppin' trio, entered into Sundance this year. It's fair to say this is no ordinary film, and the point that I was only made aware of it within the last week makes me feel a bit 'out of it'.

Why is it so extraordinary? Not only does it resurface our love for the group, by following up from their 1986 hit Fight for Your Right (the film was made in honour of the songs 25 year anniversary) but also has my favourite cast of any short film I have ever seen. That's saying something.

I'll give you guys a link to the film at the bottom, and I'll try not to give anything away. I will give you a look at the cast though. Appearances by Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, John C. Reilly, Susan Surandon, Elijah Wood, Stanley Tucci, Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, David Cross, Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson, Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Amy Poehler, Alicia Silverstone, Laura Dern, Jason Schwartzman, Maya Rudolph, Kirsten Dunst, Orlando Bloom, Martin Starr and.. the actual Beastie Boys themselves are all made. Need I say more?

American Pie just started. The Jason Bateman movie rather than the Don McLean song of the same name.

Men

.. of many talents.
I've always thought pretty highly of myself. For good reason too. I'd like to think of myself as a multi-talented individual, someone who can keep your accounts then discuss the cultural importance of Justin Bieber. No frills office worker by day, super-hero by night. Individuals meeting these kind of 'jack-of-all-trade' type descriptions are known as polymaths, or more commonly as a Renaissance man. These are the people that I most admire.

James Franco could certainly be categorised in such a way. Man, I just want to be him. Coolest guy ever? I think so. Not only is he a ridiculously good actor - playing everything from Spiderman's best friend to James Dean and just about everything in between - he's also terrific at just about everything else.

I'll give you the quick version. He was talented in high-school at mathematics and interned at aerospace company Lockheed and Martin. Using his natural charm, wit, intelligence and good looks he makes his way successfully in the film industry, becoming a star in his own right. Unhappy with being a one-trick-pony, he enrolled at UCLA in 2006 and finished his accelerated BA in English within 2 years with a GPA of 3.5 all while acting. He then moved to New York to simultaneously complete his MFA at Columbia University, attend NYU's school for filmmaking, Brooklyn College for fictional writing and Warren Wilson College for poetry. He received his MFA from Columbia in 2010 and enrolled at Yale University to study his Ph.D in English while also attending Rhode Island School of Design. As of the 15th of April this year, he was also accepted into the University of Houston's Ph.D program in literature and creative writing in 2012. While doing all this, he's also been teaching at NYU among several other colleges. To go with this, he's an accomplished painter with his first European exhibit being held in January, he released his first book (a collection of short stories) earlier this year, face of Gucci's men's fragrance line, presenting at the Academy Awards and voted Sexiest Man Living by Salon.com. Imagine what he could accomplish if he wasn't stoned out of his mind 50% of the time. I'll say it again. Coolest guy ever. EVER.

I was supposed to talk about Ben Stein as well.. but he can wait for another day.

My life in motion

Why everything is better on the big screen..
.. and why your life sucks.

Movies almost always have a happy ending.
Regardless of plot-twists, if your life ends.. it's probably not a good thing.

Beautiful girls and guys running in slow motion.
Stupid dickheads who walk really slow when you're in a hurry.

The hard work the hero makes to get to the top.
The moment you realise that hard work is called 'hard' work for a reason.

Magic is real.
There's crazy people who believe in magic.

Great soundtrack to every pivotal moment in the plot.
Idiots who turn their terrible music up on their phones on trains.

Your best friend is Owen Wilson.
You punch your best friend's nose to make it resemble Owen Wilson's.

Busic for Ben

These are a few of my least favourite things.
I'm currently at Griffith University's library. I had no sleep last night studying for a silly economics exam that I just walked out of. Yeah, I did ok.. but I had the worst headache ever! Plus this guy kept on breathing really really heavily next to me. I literally felt like knocking the guy out. You know that episode of The Simpsons where Homer tries to become Ned Flanders' best friend? And Homer's breathing really heavily in church?? Yeah, like THAT.

Sore legs

Go away. Dying.
Pretty sure I'm sick of these exams/ essays/ presentations. I guess I should consider myself lucky before I start my accounting/ business law subjects over the next few semesters.

My legs are really sore.

End times

Busy. Tidy. Organised. Boring?
I've reworked my degree. I'm now co-majoring in international business and accounting. I think my whole life I knew I was destined to do something that tested my creativity. Now the path that I'm following seems to be that of a number-crunching office guy.

Being a big-shot New York business executive has always appealed to me though, and I think if that's really what I want to do with my life.. the degree I'm doing is following down the same track.

Greed is good.

Being corrupt, ruthless and greedy isn't really my thing.. but will it be? Am I destined to be a real-life Gordon Gekko? It seems in the last few weeks it seems I've left my friends, social life and general enjoyment of life behind for something more. I'm yet to leave my teenage years and I've already started to plan my way to the top. The more I think about it, the more I want to be wearing expensive suits, drinking 5 cups of coffee a day, smoking Cuban cigars, driving my BMW and just all round living the high life.

Barney still has time to blog too.

I think the most important thing to realise is no matter how hard I try, how well I present myself, how naturally talented and intelligent I am.. I'm not going to walk into a place and be top-dog. Best way I go about it is probably getting a good job as an accountant upon graduation then working my way up the ranks.

Ah, to dream.

You have 0 friends

Facebook is without a doubt the biggest mover of information these days.
Sure, Google is great for research. But person to person. Facebook shits all over it.

Yesterday, I deleted my Facebook account.
Kinda makes me feel like a man, ya know? It's pretty much the same as throwing out your cellphone.
I think I've got a case of Man vs. Machine. So far it's Ben 1, Machine 0.

Man vs Machine... Jeopardy!-style

Speaking of machines, I bought a new printer this weekend just gone. It's pretty incredible, I must say. I can send it things to print away from home.. plus the photo printing quality is amazing. No more shotty document printing for me! Laser-jet printing all the way..

Times are a changin'

I wanted a new creative outlet.
So I got one in my new blog
http://guessthatsideboob.blogspot.com

Sure it's a little racy, but it's something different and new.

I'll still keep posting on here of course, but I guess that depends what kind of mood I'm in.

Of Meese and Men.

Goose is to geese, as moose is to meese.

I really don't give a fuck about the English language. Mooses sounds shit. Meese is just such a terrific word.
Meese on my friends, meese on!

The greatest of all the meese.

There are prices to pay

I should be studying, but instead I lie here in pain.
Seriously injured my leg by slipping over on the tiles after I got out of the shower.

Showers are scary sometimes.

Ree ree ree ree ree!

I guess it's time to hit the books, regardless of the pain. I'm supposed to be working at 6am tomorrow morning.. but I don't think that's happening due to a doctor's appointment and a pair of crutches.

Quintessential

Which seat will I take?
Red Riding Hood is shithouse. Don't watch it, I beg you.
Elizabeth Taylor. You are a legend.

I need a friend.
1966 Twiggy, you can be my friend?

Twiggy was pretty.

Watched Planet of the Apes for the first time in ages the other week. I forgot how great it was. So quotable. Plus it's got Charlton Heston, what an actor.. regardless of how ridiculously over the top he is at times. Makes me feel like watching Ben Hur.

You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you! Damn you all to hell!

I wish I had more time to watch movies and such, but work and study are a little hectic at the moment. I bought a 1970's movie calendar last month. Yes.. for THIS YEAR. Seems like some good films on it though, I might squeeze some time in to watch a couple.

It's like it's been me against the world lately.
I will lie awake.

My tongue will taste of gin and malicious intent.

Oh boy!

So.. we meet again Mr. Bond.
I've been having such a good time the last couple of months.. I really don't want anything slowing me down.
Everyone I 'meet' seems to slow me down.
"I've got one gear. GO!"

YOU'RE COOL. WE SHOULD CHILL SOMETIME.
just don't be so lame this time round.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to find these guys. For those who can't pick the lead singer, it's hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco. He's a talented dude to say the least. But fake British accent, really? Still great though.

Look at me, mah!

Someone got to Suburban Bourbon by googling 'Josh Homme is the coolest person alive'.
I thought I had a boil on my bottom. Turns out I was sitting on my laptop power cable, taking volts up the rear. People come here for the pictures, stay for the shit writing. Give the people what they want!

Yep. That pretty much sums up the last month of pop culture.
Oh wait!

Jam my muffin

Everybody wants a piece of me.
Tongues are attractive.

The lion is out of the cage, friend.
It's okay, I took my shirt off.

Nice to have a general idea of what I'm doing with myself for the next few years. I could really go for a refreshing beverage. Nothing about nothing? That is the moral of the story.

Badadadadah! BAAdadadadadadaduh.

6 years later

Thinking about the future is interesting.
What will you be doing? Where will you be? Who will you be there with?
I guess it's a bit much to think about.
All I know is that when the high school reunion comes around I want to be like Charlie Sheen.. WINNING.

Saturday, March 12, 2011

The stars are Sheen-ing.

Imagine what I would have done with my fire-breathing fists.
I'll take a day in the life of Charlie Sheen. Yeah, just one day.

Yeah I'm on a drug. It's called Charlie. Sheen.

Fuck Two and a Half Men, shit show anyway. Late Night with Charlie Sheen? Now we're talking. A documentary would also suffice. Need blog traffic? Write about Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen? Yessir, Charlie fucking Sheen.

Funny the stuff you can say when your world is a cocktail of porn stars, cocaine and boat shoes. I feel I need some too.. boat shoes that is.

Life is good friend, life is good.

Whores.

Kiss off

Ew, Valentine's Day.
It's just around so the card, chocolate and flower companies have another day in the year to bank on. Plus it sucks shit when you're single. Time for an ironic image of pop culture to coincide with this day of the year just to change subject? I think so.

Kiss used to freak me out when I was a kid. I think it was the face paint and half glam-rock, half Norwegian death-metal attire that got to me. Anything demonic always used to give me nightmares.

But I guess the funny thing with Kiss is that their music is vastly different from the type of sound that you'd expect when you first see them. Glam-rock, although considered "hard" for it's time, is nowhere near as heavy as the hard stuff and metal of today's music scene.

Now all of a sudden the band's popularity is becoming more apparent with today's younger audience through pop culture. There was the 2008 film Role Models, a few Gene Simmons reality TV shows which rekindled a bit of popularity, and perhaps my favourite pop cultural Kiss reference of all is through the Family Guy Christmas special where a show pops on the television called Kiss Saves Santa. Hilarity ensues. Family Guy has it's moments that's for sure.

Santa can shreds while he sleds. Bad poetry, oh noetry.

Let's finish with the usual, a fitting song.

Happy Valentine's Day, use protection guys.

'I wanna rock n' roll all night, and part of everyday.'

Ex-sighting.

I just bought a shitload of posters for my room.
Fare thee well textbook money.

Just your average, typical everyday-type problem.

My word, Weezer's last few albums have been rubbish. Weezer's first 2 albums were great. After that, well.. not so great. I'm going to blame Rivers Cuomo's glasses.
Before glasses - fantastic Weezer
After glasses - ok Weezer

Here's some of the fantastic glasses-less version.

2 notifications.

Good times, good times. Good times, yes? I think so. Lots and lots of good times.

I have lost my keys. Not a good feeling.
I have also lost my iPod deck charger cable. Not a good feeling also, but better than the first.

I think it's time to make an investment. A bass guitar would be nice. Very nice actually. I'll wait a couple of weeks. I can wait.

Ibanez SR400? Don't mind if I do..

I just feel lucky that I've got a home tomorrow morning more than anything. How sad.

Maybe it's because I'm crazy?

When collisions collide.

I don't have much to say. So I won't say anything at all.
Sombre is a good descriptive word for me at the moment, I'm just going with the flow. Plodding along through each day like an old mule. Mules are funny. Funny funny animals.

I didn't think it was possible to get any more chilled, but here we are.
Some say goodbye, some say hello, some say nothing at all.
No ones the bad guy.. oh, except for Stanley Tucci's character in The Lovely Bones. Yeah, he's most definitely a bad guy. Real bad. The baddest.

If your voice doesn't crack, you're not trying hard enough.

Sweden.

I'll give you as many chances as you want
...but hurry the fuck up.
It's funny how a couple of weeks can change everything for you sometimes, just that one reveling moment in time where everything just makes that extra bit more sense. You've seen it all before in the movies, the protagonists valiant rise to the top, he puts in the hard yards and gets there. Where ever 'there' might be, they get it. I want 'it' too. Something epic is about to go down.

Pelle Almqvist has everyone under his thumb. When he's up there, you're watching. Nicholaus Arson gets pretty energetic on the guitar too. The Hives  didn't make my Top 5, but they were damn close.

Friday, January 14, 2011

I hate water.. especially wet water.

I thought I felt your touch, but the water is rising up.
Is it wrong to give a thirsty person water?

No? Well what if that person was supposed to get water from someone else, this guy was supposed to be the 'sole provider' of this persons water, but they were still thirsty so you gave them the water. Wrong?

I mean, if this guy was thousands upon thousands of miles away and you gave a thirsty lass water, perhaps for a 3 month period, whilst she wasn't getting any water at all, is it really that wrong?

No, because everyone needs water whether they like it or not. Those who go without are craving it regardless. Consider me doing everyone a favour by quenching thirsts.

The first time I heard this song, I cried.
Sadface.

Battle of the Bands #4 - The Strokes

Well I don't feel better, when I'm fucking around.
It's always been beyond me why when people make lists it's always a 'Top 5' or 'Top 20' even 'Top 100'. Why aren't there lists of 'Top 42' or 'Top 93'? Because after all, there all just numbers.. no more, no less. People put too much emphasis on numbers. Sporting achievements, music industry sales, cooking or household budgets. Numbers really do make the world go round. Speaking of numbers, I'm about to add to my own list of numbers with my #4 band of all-time, The Strokes.

One day, I'll have a beer with them. One day...

I can remember the first time I heard The Strokes like it was yesterday. I was taking a long drive with my older brother, an avid follower of good music. He told me stories of his days of listening to Kyuss and Nirvana, teaching me of the mastery of Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain, Josh Homme and the like. We were listening to the radio, and they announce 'The song that everybody's been talking about.. here's The Strokes'. In 3 minutes of Last Nite, the shitty pop music that had consumed the first 9 years of my life had been blown out my ass. It was incredible. I couldn't stop thinking about how great this band was.

I saw them play on TV not too soon later, and a man crush was born. Julian Casablancas was my idol. Still, to this day, I regard him as the coolest person alive.. and certainly someone who I want to meet before my time's up.

I guess it's just the beer-swigging, cigarette-smoking, womanizing, distorted-sounding, leather jacket-wearing simplicity that The Strokes embodied took me away. They look cool, they act cooler. Simple garage rock at it's absolute finest. The critics loved them, the fans loved them more.

The Strokes actually broke up after their 2006 release First Impressions of Earth. But to be perfectly honest, I never expected them to last that long. Nothing that good ever does. They were supposed to burn out and crash horrifically like their rock and roll predecessors. But no, they simply took a few years break and got back together for a world tour in 2010, much to my relief.

Unfortunately I didn't get to see them play though. In fact, I'd bought a ticket to go see them at a festival, but due to lack of funds I had to give my ticket back. One of the low points in my life for sure. Actually, in the last 6 months all but one of my Top 5 have toured Australia (not being able to get tickets to any of them), with that one band that hasn't yet toured (my favourite band of all-time) I'm actually going to be able to see. Thank god.

Listen to: Reptilia off second Room on Fire, probably best embodies their overall sound.
Download: Debut LP Is This It. Rolling Stone voted in their 500 Greatest Albums All-Time. 'Nuff said.

Ah, to be in that crowd. Incredible.

Battle of the Bands #5 - Silversun Pickups

I've been waiting for this moment all my life. But it's not quite right.
Someone asked me the other day who my Top 5 bands are, and it got me thinking. Not just about who I'd put in my 'Top 5', but what does the question itself mean?

I find that the music I like the most I can relate to, through the lyrics and overall mood of the songs they play. To me your favourite music should be like the soundtrack of your life, to an extent. I mean, to me, the music you listen to (especially if it's a big part of your life) very much defines you as a person. You can, more often than not I've found, get to know a person's personality through the music they listen to quite easily. For me, the Silversun Pickups do a good job of representing me as a person: my feelings, thoughts, triumphs and tribulations.. all encompassed in a couple of splendid albums. Hence why they are my 5th favourite band of all-time.

An interesting bunch, to say the least.

I don't think it's a coincidence that 3 of my Top 5 bands have female bass guitarists. Maybe I believe in equality in band line-ups, or perhaps I just dig a girl who can slap a good bass.. either way I feel it brings something to the table, having a female member in bands. Besides that, I separate the Pickups from other alt-indie rock bands because of their sound. Kind of like a distorted punk-shoegaze rock sound, kind of like an evolved Smashing Pumpkins sound. Like Billy Corgan of the Pumpkins, Brian Aubert has a distinct melancholic tone to his voice that serves well along side his own screeching guitar work and the bands keys and synths. I like the use of simple bass lines and guitar riffs in my music, that garage rock type sound. Keep it simple I say. That's probably why I can't get right into the hardcore-punk scene, I just don't feel break-downs are as enthralling as a simple 4-note bass-line.

Listen to: Catch & Release, one of their softer tracks on 2009 release Swoon.
Download: Their latest album, Swoon. I've listened to it on repeat over 100 times easy.

Probably my favourite of theirs. On their 2006 album Carnavas.

Come On Pilgrim

Comics are for nerds.
This is a common association, mostly an American stereotype, but still an existent one. I've never been the big comic (or 'graphic novel' for the larger, more novel-like version) fan. But I do, on the other hand, usually get around to see my fair share of comic-based movies. The Scott Pilgrim series falls into this category.

The graphic novel series was (ending July this year) very popular in it's own right, with a large legion of readers to spark interest everywhere. This even included a review by E! which is how the graphic novel came to my attention. After flicking through a few pages over the web, I could see why the series had become so popular.  It combined real life issues with flamboyant, over-the-top fighting scenes; really different to anything I've ever seen. So when just a few months later I read that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was going to be made into a full-length feature film.. well, I was excited. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to see it in theatres and before I blinked my eyes my opportunity to see it had passed.

... until I bought it the other day on Blu-ray, which I'll be reviewing today.

Scott and the gang, just chillin' at the bar.

The ups! :D
:: Same uniqueness of the graphic novel series. Teen-comedy-romance meets garage rock-band gig meets Street Fighter

::  Good casting. After reading the small amount of the series that I did, Michael Cera was, although at times predictable, the only person that could have played Mr. Pilgrim.

:: Great soundtrack. My kind of music. Scott Pilgrim (for those who haven't seen the film/ read the series) plays in a band called Sex Bob-omb. They play a heavy, garage-y, distorted sound that drives the movie, and fits nicely in with the fast-paced action scenes

:: A film made for me. Not pre-teens. Not for anyone over the age of 30. This movie is target-specific made for my demographic. Geeky males aged 16 - 29.

Michael Cera sports some surprisingly tight bass riffs.

The downs! :(
:: Don't want to spoil it, but ending was a bit of a let down. For a movie with so many twists and turns, the ending was really boring.

:: Not enough Jason Schwartzman. As the main 'bad guy' in the film Gideon Graves, he only manages to get maybe 45 mins of screen-time and Mr. Schwartzman absolutely nails it. I know they would've wanted to keep by the series, but he's just too good a character to give such little screen time.

:: Movie lacked solidity. What I mean by that is because it was such a fast-paced, uniquely moving storyline, you seem to miss a fair bit of what's going on, or at least it seems like you do.. even after a second watch.

The ultra-cool Gideon Graves. +7 hair skill attribute.

The verdict...
:: Just a cool flick with great visuals, sound effects and soundtrack. The visual and audio elements of the film are worth seeing on their own, especially in Blu-ray format

:: Michael Cera is one of those 'love him or hate him' type actors. My advice to you if you're a hater of his socially awkward, lovable-loser persona is to watch the film. He gets his ass kicked on a number of occasions, you'll love it.

:: Watch it with warning.  If you dislike video games, over-the-top super hero type action or garage rock music.. don't watch it.

Went and got the soundtrack I liked Sex Bob-omb so much.
