You traded my soul for pogs?!

Remember Alf? He's back.. in pog form
- Milhouse Van Houten

I guess starting school in 98' I must have just missed out on the pogs craze, one of the most popular fads of the 90's. I did used to collect Tazos though, which were extremely similar, so I guess I didn't completely miss out. I mean we had Pokemon cards and Beyblades, but the generation before had pogs. Yeah, little circular cards that you collected. Another one of those lame fads. But back in the 1990s school-yard they were like gold. Anything from Sailor Moon characters to favourite NBA players were 'pog-ified'. It makes me wonder what the kids are playing with these days though.

I think collectibles like pogs and playing cards are a bit outdated nowadays. It seems like their place in pop-culture has been traded for internet memes and Twilight merchandise. Which is sad. No longer do kids care about what toys they get in their Happy Meal's, they're more concerned with what size their meal is. All this talking of toys makes me feel like cracking open a Kinder Surprise.

Ah, to be young again.
